Matt Sheehy, frontman of Lost Lander, is one of the busiest members of the Portland indie music scene. Before founding his current band, he was one half of the Gravity & Henry duo, played in Brent Knopf’s project Ramona Falls, and toured with Kaki King. He also published a solo record ‘Tigerphobia’ in 2008.
Lost Lander’s debut LP came out this January. A milestone in Matt’s journey as a songwriter, ‘DRRT’ is his most refined work to date; it reminds me of early Genesis (led by Peter Gabriel) in the delicacy of its arrangements and the heartbreaking fragility of Sheehy’s voice. The credit for the overall sound goes to Brent Knopf, who did an exceptional job as producer, just like in the case of the latest Dear Reader album.
