Any musi­cians who have finally found their own unique sound must feel really spe­cial, sim­ply because most of them never find any­thing. Apparently, Daughn Gibson is one of the few who has.

His recipe goes like this:

Arrange a pile of scratchy old sam­ples loosely but nicely in a huge, echo­ing bowl and put a beau­ti­ful fat bari­tone in the mid­dle of it. It tastes famil­iar and orig­i­nal at the same time.

Daughn is from Carlisle, Pennsylvania. He describes his music as coun­try, and he has every right to do so, although he pretty much decon­structs the genre, and builds some­thing that’s more appro­pri­ate in our age.
